The structure of the Senegalese Government is French-inspired, for Senegal used to be a French colony. Senegal has a democratic government with a president, prime minister, and representative government as their form of leadership. The length of the term that the president serves for 7 years and you may renew your term once. Like America, the legal age to vote is 18 years old. The most popular political groups are the democrats and socialists. The Senegalese democratic party was formed in 1974 by Abboutable Wade and the President of Senegal today is Macky Sall. He started programs for economic reforms and helps with economic development in the country. Their justice system consists of a constitutional counsel, court of final appeals, court of cassation, and the council of state. The taxes in Senegal are also substantially high, for the taxes on imports are 50%.
