The African Regional Center of Technology, with over thirty members, is centered in Dakar. It has centers for mining and medical research as well as a research institute on African nutrition issues.
The Senegalese Institute of Agricultural Research is the national center of agriculture. It has a national lab for veterinary research and to study livestock.
The University Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar, founded in the late 1940s, has facilities for medicine, pharmacy and sciences. It focuses on "psychopathology, leprosy, pediatrics, renewable energy, applied tropical medicine, applied mathematics, health and development, environmental science, odontology and stomatology, and applied nuclear technology, as well as the teaching of mathematics, physics, and technology."
The research centers is Senegal are some of the best in Africa and very influential in the world of science.
