Title
Cancer Treatment in Senegal
Subject
Senegal plans to offer free and government funded cancer treatment.
Description
Starting in October of 2019, the Senegalese government began paying for treatment for cervical and breast cancer. The government will also pay for 60% of treatment for other types of cancer. This is an important step forward for healthcare, specifically for women. This will decrease the death rate from cancer for people who are unable to afford healthcare. Many Senegalese people agree that more needs to be done to improve access to healthcare, but this is a huge step in the right direction.
